Research In Motion (RIM) today announced the BlackBerry 8820 smartphone. Featuring RIM's thinnest smartphone design with a full and highly tactile QWERTY keyboard, large and bright display (320 x 240), user-friendly trackball navigation system and best-in-class voice and data functionality, the BlackBerry 8820 also includes built-in GPS (Global Positioning System), RIM's latest media player enhancements, and a microSD / microSDHC (microSD High Capacity) expandable memory slot that can support current and future generations of microSD memory cards up to 32GB. The BlackBerry 8820 is the first dual-mode BlackBerry handset, combining EDGE/GPRS/GSM cellular and Wi-Fi connectivity for data access and voice support through UMA (unlicensed mobile access) for fixed-mobile convergence (FMC) service offerings from various wireless carriers around the world.

AT&T and Research in Motion (RIM) announced today the Blackberry Curve, the latest ultra-light QWERTY BlackBerry smartphone. The phone has a familiar silver exterior with smooth curves befitting its name. The Blackberry Curve sports a 320x240-pixel display with RIM's own light-sensing technology, capable of adjusting the luminosity of the back lighting to fit the situation. The phone also has a full QWERTY keyboard, trackball navigation system, 2.0-megapixel camera with 5x digital zoom and built-in flash, bluetooth, and more.

Verizon Wireless is rolling out a new BlackBerry, the 8830 World Edition CDMA/GSM smartphone, which will use Verizon's new Global BlackBerry service. The BlackBerry 8830 is thin and stylish at only 14mm. It contains a speakerphone, bluetooth capability, Trackball navigation system, Speaker Independent Voice Recognition (SIVR) for Voice Activated Dialing (VAD), and is instant messaging ready. The new Global BlackBerry service provides wireless access to the internet from the U.S., Canada and over 60 countries worldwide.
